Building Music Ventures

On Taste, Identity and Intellectual Property in the Age of Infinite Music

David Cok

When production costs nothing, choosing becomes the most expensive thing there is.

For most of recorded history, making music was expensive, and that expense did quiet work: it forced decisions. Today a song can be made in the time it takes to make coffee. Building Music Ventures is about what that changes — for artists, labels and anyone who owns music — and why taste, identity and intellectual property matter more now, not less.

The book is written from inside the change: by a lawyer, entrepreneur and music creator who runs his own Music Venture Studio as an open experiment.
