Brief
Question. Can an absurd but musically serious rock concept about meat and carnivore culture carry a self-standing act, and grow from a joke into a world people come back to?
Thesis. If the music and the joke work first and the ideas sit underneath, a faceless, AI-assisted act can build a coherent catalogue and visual world quickly and cheaply. The real test is not attention but return: listeners who come back without being asked.
What we are doing. We build Meat Energy as a project identity without faces or biographies: "Maybe a band. Maybe a collective. The ideas matter more than the faces." Generative tools produce options; we write and rewrite the lyrics, set structure and arrangement, and select, combine and reject. Music, artwork, concept videos and marketing are designed at the same time. The catalogue is organised as a cycle of albums, each a chapter. We run small, real marketing tests before any serious money goes into conventional production.
How we will judge it.
- Coherence: does the catalogue read as one world across very different styles?
- Return, not reach: follows, saves, playlist adds, repeat listening, returning viewers and cross-catalogue listening, above [THRESHOLD]
- A first, concrete bar: ten people who listen more than once
- Cost of control: what it costs to bring a concept video to usable quality
- Niche response: whether carnivore, BBQ, farming and rock communities engage when tested in isolation
What would make us stop. If isolated, well-designed tests show attention that never turns into returning listeners, or if the concept narrows into a single diet ideology or political cause.
Reports R01–R07 were written retrospectively in October 2026 from project notes. Later reports are written as they happen.

A joke that had to work first
Meat Energy did not start as a model for the future of music. It started with meat, fire and hard guitars. The first album, Glory to Meat, was physical and direct: steak, smoke, b…

From body to world
After Glory to Meat (R01), a problem appeared: an act that only makes new variations on "steak is good" will use itself up quickly. So the question shifted from what do …

Visualising doubt: Trust Machine
The third chapter, Trust Machine, is the point where the project grew up. Its subject is not simply disinformation, AI or propaganda, but a wider question: how does a person decid…

Cheaper to make, not cheaper to control
As the concept videos of R03 became more ambitious, the production side produced lessons of its own.

First paid test: attention is not fandom
The concept is easy to communicate (R01), so we tested it with money. We ran a paid video campaign on Google Ads around Frequent Flyer Food, aimed at Spotify. Campaign dates: [DAT…

The Future and the Return
After Trust Machine (R03), the next step was to assume the systems keep growing and the technology mostly works. What kind of person lives there? That became Neon Bones — The Futu…
